Second Hottest Year in History: 2007
The year of 2007 might be the second hottest year in history after 1998, an expert with the Weather Research Unit at the British University of East Anglia said on Friday.

Phil Jones predicted that 2007 might be the second hottest year in history, which has been recorded since 1860.

According to the World Meteorology Organization, the ten hottest years over the past 150 years were the 1990s, while 2006 ranks sixth.

However, according to a study carried out by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) of the United States, 2005 was the hottest year, even hotter than 1998.

The experts meeting in the Norwegian capital also predicted that the floods in Pakistan and the high temperatures in Greece might announce more severe disasters as a consequence of global warming.

Floods have killed more than 500 people in Afghanistan, India and Pakistan over the past few days, the researchers said.
