Cuban Takes Lead in
Veulta a Costa Rica
Cuban Raúl Granjel, of
the Mapache team, was
the leader at the end of
the first stage of the
Vuelta a Costa Rica
bicycle race from San
José to the city of
Puntarenas on the
Pacific coast.
Granjel's time was 2
hours, 39 minutes and 15
seconds covering a
distance of 112.5
kilometres.
Second came from
compatriot Pedro Pablo
Pérez, followed by Costa
Rican Luis García for
the Dos Pinos team.
The today the Vuelta
will leave Puntarenas
headed for Playas de
Coco, a distance of
209.5 kilometres, the
longest run in the
competition, which will
run until December 28.
In addition to Costa
Ricans, riders from
Switzerland, Mexico,
Colombia and Ecuador are
all taking part in this
years Vuelta. |
