International Antidrug
Seminar Held in Panama
More than 500 delegates
from Latin America and
the Caribbean are
debating on politics,
strategies and actions
to prevent
drug-trafficking, money
laundering and
terrorism.
Experts and authorities
from Panama, Cuba,
Mexico, Colombia and
Spain will put their
experiences in the
struggle against
drug-trafficking, Deputy
Carlos Alvarado,
president of the
Legislative Commission
against Drugs, told the
press covering the
event.
This event is organized
by the Panamanian
National Assembly and
counts on the support of
the National Commission
for Study and Prevention
of Crimes Related with
Drugs and the US Drug
Enforcement Agency.
Among the topics with
greatest expectations
there is the impact of
drug-trafficking in
Colombia.
The Panamanian Public
Ministry secretary
general informed that 20
tons of drugs were
seized in the national
territory in 2006, and
it could be possible the
amount might be doubled
in 2007.
The 2nd International
Congress for
Drug-Trafficking, Money
Laundering and Terrorism
Prevention will conclude
Wednesday with the
publishing of a report
on the progress in this
