President Lula Visits
Nicaragua
Well-known to
Nicaraguans, whom he
visited numerous times
when he was a union
leader, Brazil's
President Luiz Inacio
Lula da Silva will
arrive in Nicaragua this
afternoon in his first
visit as head of State.
The Brazilian dignitary
will arrive in Managua
from Honduras, part of a
tour that included
Mexico and will continue
in Jamaica Wednesday, to
conclude in Panama.
According to the agenda
distributed by the
Sandinista government's
Communication and
Citizens Council, Lula
will have a working
dinner this evening with
his host, President
Daniel Ortega.
Official talks will take
place Wednesday as well
as the signing of
several bilateral
cooperation agreements,
mainly in energy
generation, investments,
infrastructure,
bio-combustibles and
social development.
A forum on trade and
investment will take
place parallel to the
Ortega and Lula
meetings, with the
participation of
Brazilian and Nicaraguan
ministers and
businesspeople from both
countries.
Lula's visit to
Nicaragua will be a real
event, assured former
Sandinista foreign
minister and Ortega's
current foreign affairs
advisor Miguel D Escoto,
who highlighted the
friendship ties between
the two dignitaries. |
