Drunken Son Almost Kills
Father in Traffic
Accident
A night of drinking
almost cost a son the
life of his 80 year old
father, who is barely
hanging on to life at
the Hospital San Juan de
Dios, after the vehicle
we was riding, driven by
his son, slammed into a
stopped bus.
The accident occurred
around 8:15pm last night
on the "carretera a
Santa Ana" some 100
metres north of the San
Antonio Belén exit.
Manuel Rodríguez, the
driver who tested 1.41
on the breathalyzer, who
received only scratches
said the darkness
impaired his vision and
did not see the bus
stopped at the bus stop.
The driver of the bus
and none of the
passengers were hurt in
the accident.
The Policía de Tránsito
(traffic police)
continue their fight
against drinking and
driving as Costa Ricans
still do not get the
message that drinking
and driving don't mix.
