One More Year
The United States granted a
one-year extension for Marie
Gonzalez, a Costa Rican, to
continue in college and in her
struggle for immigrants in the
U.S.
This was possible thanks to the
support she received from
Senator Richard Durban
(Illinois) and Congressman Ike
Skelton (Missouri).
Marie is majoring in Political
Sciences, International
Business, and International Law
–at the same time– at
Westminster University in
Missouri.
In the meantime, her campaign
for immigrants placed Marie
among the 10 most outstanding
women in the U.S. in 2004-2005.
The news of the extension
reached her parents in Costa
Rica, where they returned in
2005, following deportation from
the U.S.
