Wanted Priest Deported To Costa
Rica
Catholic priest, Enrique Vázquez,
detained in Honduras earlier
this week, was placed in the
hands of immigration officials
Friday, who began the process of
deporting him to Costa Rica.
Honduran officials say the
priest initially called himself
Allan García and being a
Venezuelan national, however,
his fingerprints gave him up.
Vázquez is wanted in Costa Rica
for the sexual abuse of minor
and will in Costa Rica today,
Costa Rican officials say. The
priest denies the charges and
says he is innocent.
Vázquez was expected in Costa
Rica this morning, however, he
arrived last night on a flight
from Honduras on TACA flight 619
and now is in the hands of the
Organismo de Investigación
Judicial (OIJ) and the Fiscalía
de Garabito, Puntarenas, where
the charges were filed.
Escorted by Honduran immigration
officials, he was quickly handed
over to Costa Rican officials
once he was on Costa Rican soil.
Vázquez, accused of abusing
minors in 1993 and 1994, while
the charges by the two altar
boys were not filed until 1998
and 2004, was one of the most
wanted in Central America, who
has on the run since the filing
of the first complaint.
