Panama House Debates Security Plan
The Panamanian Parliament opened discussions Monday over a draft with special measures to fight crime in the country, including stricter sanctions for minors.

The 36-item document was recently presented by Government and Justice Minister Olga Golcher, who had called for its urgent debate.

The bill contains amendments to the judicial, penal, administrative, and fiscal codes, as well as to law 40 by increasing sentences to minors who break the law.

Amid nationwide controversy over increased sanctions for minors, Golcher affirmed socio-educative measures will be implemented to reinsert youth into society.

Also, homicide, rape, drug trafficking, arms deal, and terrorism will be some of the crimes most severely punished.
