Mexican Farmers Reject PPP Summit
Over 2,000 farmers have come to this Mexican city to protest what they believe is the real objective of the Plan Puebla Panama (PPP) Summit: to expel them from their lands.

For Mexican farmers, the presidential meeting taking place at the Campeche Convention Center until Tuesday is to favor the presence of large consortiums in the area and deprive them of the land they have cultivated for centuries.

Luis Antonio Che, leader of the Emiliano Zapata Farmer Front, said contingents have mobilized several marches to reject the summit, despite deployment of police and federal agents along roads leading to the city.

Meanwhile, social activists consider the PPP meeting also aims to channel oil and other natural resources in the region to benefit large foreign and national investors, chiefly those in the United States.
