Shakira Heads Latin Grammy
Nominations
Colombian singer Shakira, with
five nominations, heads the list
of contenders for the Latin
Grammy Awards to be conferred in
November, related sources
confirmed on Tuesday.
In a press round held in New
York it was announced that
Mexican Julieta Venegas and
Guatemalan Ricardo Arjona are
also in the vanguard with four
nominations while members of
Calle 13 Group, Fonseca and
Víctor Manuelle achieved three.
Shakira and Venegas are
nominated in the categories of
Recording and Album of the Year
as well as in the Best Short
Version Video Clip.
The Colombian star will also opt
for the prize to the Best Song
of the Year and to the Best
Feminine Vocal Pop Album while
Mexican Venegas is nominated to
the Best Alternative Music
Album.
The list of nominees in the 47
categories was announced at the
New York Madison Square, the
same place expected to cater to
the prize-giving ceremony on
November 2.
This is the first time that the
controversial event, that does
not usually facilitates the
attendance of Cubans resident in
the Caribbean island, will take
place in the so-called Big
Apple.
