Advertising up 11.7 percent
After experiencing a major
contraction following the
corruption scandals that shook
Costa Rica in 2004, the
investment in advertising
experienced a major hike in the
12 months that ended last July,
when it increased 11.7 percent.
Media guru José Correa explained
that, following the corruption
scandals, advertisers chose not
to risk that their products be
linked to the negative
information if they appeared in
the same space or means of
communication, therefore the
sector contracted.
The
reactivation of economy
experienced last year and the
candidacy and ensuing election
of Oscar Arias as President
are part of the issues that the
analysts believe have played a
key role in the increase in
advertising.
