Lower Tariff For Bananas
Costa Rica looks forward to the
European Union gradually
reducing the current tariff of
176 euros per ton of bananas,
acting upon an analysis made by
Norway.
The banana growing
countries of Latin America have
withstood the impact of the
tariff since January 1st this
year, when the 25 state members
of the EU established the sole
tariff for bananas.
The
Norwegian recommendation is
based on the negative influence
that the tariff has had on the
trade and sales of the fruit,
according to Costa Rican
sources.
