Guatemalan on US: The Devil Preaches
Headlined "The Evil Preaches", the Guatemalan Nuestro Diario daily denounced US hypocrisy Thursday, saying it is fighting terrorism but severely punishing five Cuban antiterrorism fighters.

The devil preaches but does not convert. Just as the US government proclaims respect to laws, but manipulates, evades, and despises them in practice, the paper fumed.

The article, written by well-known journalist Juan Antonio Canel, was prompted by the unfair imprisonment faced by the Cuban Five, who have not had even the minimum guarantees established by US legislation.

Canel denounced the continuing manipulations, violations and political interests by the US in this case, and recalled the annulment issued by three judges of the Atlanta Appellate Court, despite which they remained imprisoned.

Those Cubans were doing real antiterrorism work and they were protecting Cuba´s sovereignty, the journalist asserted.
