Grisly Murder Shocks Guatemala
Five members of a recently
murdered family in Guatemala
will be buried on Thursday among
widespread shock of the
population that demands from
authorities a quick
investigation of the facts.
Police are on the trail of the
killers of couple Gustavo Lara
and Berta Lorena Perez and their
children Ludwin , Joshua and
Ashley, 8, 12 and 15 years of
age, respectively.
The investigators said the
children were tortured and
murdered in front of their
parents.
For Marco Antonio Garavito,
director of the Guatemalan
League of Mental Health, those
crimes show the process of
dehumanization that the country
is living, where serious social
decomposition exists.
Violence against children is a
phenomenon that unfortunately is
repeated frequently, Garavito
denounced.
The office of the US High
Commissioner for the Human
Rights in Guatemala reported
that he will monitor what
happened in this case.
