Nicaragua Marches against IMF
Social and union organizations assembled under the Coordinadora Civil (CC) convened a national rally Monday against conditions that financial organizations like the International Monetary Fund impose on Nicaragua.

The aim of the rally, slated for October 26, is "to expose our disagreement for the payment of the internal debt and conditions of international financial organizations that limit the country's economic and social development," states the document.

The CC also announces that the demonstration will demand an equal redistribution of wealth, reduction of economic and social inequalities and democratization of power, to benefit people.

Among exigencies is also a petition to nationalize energy once more, reform electoral laws and respect the Nicaraguans' sexual and reproductive rights.

Organizers of the demonstration, to be run few days before the November 5 presidential and legislative elections, requested participants to abstain from bearing party flags on Thursday.
