Day 1 Of Protest Against TLC
Around 10,000 Costa Ricans,
about one half of the expected,
protested on Monday against the
Tratado Libre de Comercio (TLC)
- the free trade deal with the
United States, calling on the
legislature to reject the
agreement.
OIJ Surprises Escaped Convicts,
Captures Four in Early Morning

While the nation was focusing on
the TLC protests and as the
Ministerio de Seguridad Pública
focused on keeping civil order
and peace during the protests,
there was one group who had
other things in mind, the
capture of the eight convicts
who escaped from the La Reforma
prison two weeks ago.

authorizing state power and
telecom group ICE to take on up
to us$435 million dollars in
debt, the presidential website
reported.
