Caribbean for Sustainable
Tourism
Caribbean tourism Ministers
called for a regional recreation
industry with a sustainable
focus on cruisers,
transportation and integration
as well as a search for improved
economies for their nations.
The President of the Special
Committee of Sustainable Tourism
of the Association of Caribbean
States (ACS), Luis Simon, said
the event was part of the
ministerial encounter and the
XVI Meeting of the ACS Special
Committee on Sustainable
Tourism.
Present at the talks was ACS
Secretary General, Ruben Sille,
who traveled to Havana to take
part in the discussions as well
as Venezuelan Tourism Minister,
Wilmar Castro.
The text covers the policies to
impulse tourism, integration of
language through a promotion
center, policies of
transportation, formation and
security for tourists.
The declaration criticized US
legislation that its citizens
must use a passport to travel in
the region, a measure that will
be in force as of next January
8.
The ACS is a consultancy,
cooperation and action
organization dealing with trade,
transportation, sustainable
tourism and natural disaster.
This regional entity has 25
members, including Cuba.
