Panama Perilously Poisoned
The number of deaths caused by the poisoning of various medicines in Panama continues increasing, while authorities fear more dead since at least 20,000 bottles of those medicines are still circulating in the country's markets.

Panama's Minister of Health Camilo Alleyne announced the death of two more persons, with whom the number of lethal victims reached to 26, while another 40 are hospitalized.

According to specialist Néstor Sossa, many of those affected with the syndrome could die, since 24 of the 40 hospitalized remain in critical health condition.

Attorney General Ana Matilde Gómez, said that five people were detained to investigate their relation with a company that imported the contaminated medicine and sold it to the Social Security Fund three years ago.

According to authorities, at least 20,000 bottles of the over 100,000 poisoned with dietilenglicol are still circulating.
