Afro-Honduran Communities Protest
The Afro-Honduran population called for the national government to solve the critical situation of social, economic and political exclusion that sector is suffering, representatives denounced in this capital Friday.

With the usual drums thumping as a sign of protest, hundreds of members from that community spoke out to the National Congress today against the exclusion of ethnic groups in this Central American country.

The march was organized by the Afro-Honduran Forum and made up of all black-community organizations in Honduras.

Demonstrators delivered a manifesto to the Honduran National Congress president Roberto Micheletti, highlighting a series of demands related to the political participation of those communities.

The 210th anniversary of the presence in Honduras and Central America of African descendants will be held next year.
