First Venezuelan Oil Sails to
Nicaragua
The first shipment of Venezuelan
oil acquired by the Asociacion
de Municipios de Nicaragua has
arrived to this nation and will
be given to a state plant to
solve the ongoing energy crisis.
The announcement was made by the
Secretary for Communication of
the Sandinista National
Liberation Front (FSLN), the
party that guaranteed the deal
clinched on April between
Nicaraguan mayor´s offices and
the state-run company Petroleos
de Venezuela (PDVSA).
According to the text, 60
percent of the 80,000 gallons of
diesel received on Saturday will
be paid within 90 days at global
prices but the remaining 40
percent will have a 23-year
credit with low interest rates.
FSLN leader Daniel Ortega,
PDVSA-Caribe President Alejandro
Granados and other important
Venezuelan officials were
present in the arrival of the
oil.
