Panama Denounces Cuban Five Plight
The president of a Panama international law school, Julio Berrios, denounced the violations and biased trial against Five Cuban anti-terrorists in the US.

"The trial was illegal because among other things it overrode due process and lacked impartiality," said Berrios, adding that the Public Prosecutor's Office manipulated the evidence.

The leader of the Academia Istmena de Derecho Internacional said "US authorities must understand that they cannot continue to violate their own laws and international treaties."

He denounced Washington's double standard in jailing the Cuban anti-terrorists Gerardo Hernandez, Fernando Gonzalez, Ramon Labanino, Antonio Guerrero and Rene Gonzalez, but protecting notorious criminal Luis Posada Carriles.

Posada Carriles blasted in 1976 a Cuban civilian plane with 73 people aboard and is currently being held for illegal entrance into the US, not for his numerous violent actions through the continent.

The Cuban Five were given from 15 years to double life sentences for penetrating terrorist groups operating in Miami and frustrating their criminal actions against the Island.

The Academia Istmena de Derecho Internacional demands their immediate release, because after the Court of Appeals annulled their sentence nothing justifies that they remain in prison.

 It also urges the US government to allow their relatives and wives their legal visiting rights.
