Suite Habana Plays in Nicaragua
The Cuban-Spanish production “Suite Habana”, an internationally recognized film, will premiere Thursday in Managua, as part of the official Nicaraguan National Film Library program, that institution reported Wednesday.

The screening is part of a cultural project to present the best of the seventh art to the Nicaraguan movie-going public, as an alternative to commercial Hollywood fare, which fills the theaters of the capital.

The peculiarity of “Suite Habana”, by Cuban producer Fernando Perez, is that it shows without dialogues, interviews, or narrations, a spectrum of characters who represent the curious diverse social groups that move around the city.

The director only resorts to images, sounds, and music to express day-to-day unique reality, according to the film synopsis.

“Suite Habana” won the 2003 Havana Festival of New Latin American Movie, the same year it was also nominated for the Spanish Goya awards.
