Fidel Castro Concerned about Continental Health
Bolivian President Evo Morales highlighted the constant concern of Cuban President Fidel Castro for the health of the nations of the continent, especially Bolivia.

Morales said this is an impressive example of solidarity, in a speech before 500 delegates to the 4th National Congress of the Bolivian Movement of Solidarity with Cuba, in the southern department of Potosi.

The Bolivian President said Fidel Castro, whom he called "Brother Fidel" was keeping himself informed on the work of more than 1,600 Cuban public health professionals in Bolivia.

He praised the attitude of the Cuban people and its leader, giving a contribution to the improvement of peoples´quality of life in hundreds of countries over the world, despite the difficulties it has to face due to the blockade imposed on Cuba by the US government for more than 46 years.

Morales commented that in 1993, during a visit to Cuba, in the middle of serious economic limitations, he said in advance that Cuba would stand up as a model to be imitated in the solution of great social problems.

"Cuba is an example of solidarity, and also of progress in all fields, showing all of us how useful facing imperialism was. There will be many more Cubas. I said that some time ago, and that is coming true, step by step," he stated.

Morales also greeted Rosa Aurora Freijanes, wife of Fernando Gonzalez, one of the Cuban Five, anti-terrorist fighters now imprisoned in the US, who was present at the Congress.

The 4th National Congress of Solidarity with Cuba concludes Sunday with a Political Declaration, including a plan for action in the struggle against the blockade, and in favour of the release of the Cuban Five.

It will also present a program for activities in 2007, as a greeting to the 40th anniversary of the fall in battle of Ernesto Che Guevara.
