Al Gore to Visit Costa Rica
The former Vice-President of the
United States Al Gore will visit
Costa Rica in order to meet with
President Oscar Arias.
The goal of the visit is
promoting the establishment of a
world fund to reward countries
which reforest and protect their
primary forests.
President Arias said that the
project takes into account that
the Kioto Protocol rewards the
countries that make efforts to
sow trees, but that it lacks
acknowledgement for those that
prevent protected trees from
being fell.
Arias added that the World Bank
is planning to invest $200
million in the project, which
would bring major benefits to
Costa Rica and the world.
