Where's The Beef?
That is the question being asked
by officials at the Hospital San
Juan de Dios when finding that
meat and poultry from the
hospital's kitchen was missing.
Hospital officials began to
suspect a number of employees as
they began an investigation to
determine where the meat was
going.
Hospital officials were
dumbfounded to discover missing
meat in the lockers of several
employees and following days of
surveillance. Hospital security
officials stopped, after several
days of surveillance, one woman
with the deteriorated meat
strapped to her body and in her
clothing.
Officials say that the San Juan
de Dios is not the only hospital
with the problem, but the same
is occurring at other public
hospitals like the Hospital
México, Calderón Guardia, and
the Hospital de Niños.
Security officials said that
while thieves are attacking
patients - a female patient
reported being attacked by a man
who was pretending to be a
patient, to rob of her cellular
phone - hospital employees are
filling thier pockets and purses
with medication, toilet paper,
towels, hospital equipment and
food.
Hospital authorities, though
guarded in their remarks, said
that the problem is not only
with low paying employees, but
also with nurses, officer
employees and including doctors
at the public medical centres.
