"No Booze" Weekend Coming Up
Sunday December 3rd is election
day as voters go to the polls to
choose their community leaders
in the Municipal elections. And
as such the law requires that
all liquor, been and wine stop
flowing.
As of Friday midnight and
continuing to Monday midnight
all bars, cantinas will be
closed, and the sale of alcohol
in supermarkets, restaurants and
"licoreras" - liquor stores is
suspended.
The law calls for a "dry" period
one day before and one day after
the elections.
There is no telling how this
archaic law will affect the
thousands of tourists visiting
Costa Rica and not aware of the
dry laws during elections, or
for that matter that there is an
election.
