"Los Comelones" Gang Busted
Two members of a gang known as "Los comelones" spent Friday night in jail, as the Organismo de Investigación Judicial (OIJ) was able to detain them. More than 40 robberies of luxury homes in the Guanacaste region is attributed to the gang.

The OIJ said that the gang targets luxury homes, condominiums and hotels in the region and apart from committing robberies, the gang always took time to eat something before leaving.

"Los Comelones" (a comelon is someone who eats too much) has been active in the areas of Liberia, Santa Curz, Nicoua and Nandayure.

The Fuerza Pública (police) has been on the heels of the gang for some time and Thursday were able to apprehend two of the members, while two others believed to be part of the group are being sought by police.

Police say that the two men apprehended, identified by their last names Sánchez and Torres, where surprised by the owner of the house during the robbery, a North American man whom the police did not disclose identity. One of the robbers was hurt in the confrontation.

Authorities say that the act of sitting down to a meal before leaving the home they were robbing was a manifestation of power.
