511 Foreigners Deported
In the
first 10 months this year, 511
foreigners, most of them men,
were deported after they were
found to be in Costa Rica
illegally, according to
immigration records.
A majority of those were
Nicaraguan, but the group
included citizens from the U.S.,
China, Korea, Indonesia, Italy,
and several other nations.
Many of the aliens were arrested
during police raids in several
tourist resorts on the Pacific
and the Caribbean, as well as in
bars and nightclubs downtown San
José.
Immigration Service sources said
that while some of them held
jobs, a majority engaged in
illegal activities, including
prostitution.
