Venezuela Bankrolls Latin
America Teamwork
The Venezuelan government will
contribute five million dollars
to the functioning of the Ibero-American
General Secretariat (SEGIB), as
part of similar actions agreed
in Montevideo at the end of the
chiefs of State s summit.
SEGIB president Enrique Iglesias
thanked the Venezuelan
authorities for their
contribution, which will form
part of voluntary funds, to
total 18 million Euros (about 23
million dollars) by 2007.
The funds will be assigned for
specific cooperation projects
proposed by the donor countries.
The Ibero-American movement
plans to inaugurate SEGIB
offices in at least three
countries: one in Central
America and the other two in
South America s north and south.
SEGIB was created during the
15th Ibero-American Summit in
Salamanca, Spain, in 2004.
