Crime Will Not Stop Salvador Tourism
El Salvador's Tourism Minister Ruben Rochi declared on Monday that with our without guarantees of security, tourism is the sector contributing most hard currency, after family remittances.

Despite the crime wave affecting the country, the Salvadorian government will try to position itself as a destination for meetings, conventions, and congresses, but without excluding the pure tourist modality, the official said.

In the face of increasing concern over the increasing violence, the country is working on a security plan, and has added 100 police to protect tourists, a number likely to reach 800 in 2008, Rochi said.
