Costa
Rica Will Not Change The Clock
Definetively, Costa Rica will
not move to Daylight Savings
Time (DST)and stay in time
behind Nicaragua, Honduras and
Guatemala, in an effort to
reduce energy consumption.
Ministro de Ambiente y Energía
(Environment and Energy
Minister), Roberto Dobles, made
the announcement yesterday
following hints last week that
Costa Rica may move the DST.
Robles said that moving to DST
would not significantly save on
energy.
Ministro de la Presidencia,
Rodrigo Arias, explained that
"we have an excess of water and
electrical generating plants".
Arias added that, by changing
the time, Costa Ricans will not
change their habits to the new
time and the idiosyncrasy will
cause confusion.
