Domestic Violence Ends in Death of Woman and Five Year Old Child
A case of domestic violence left a thirty year old woman and her five year old child dead at the hands of the man who the woman had had a relationship with. The tragedy occurred in the area known as Sector seis in Los Guidos de Desamaparados.

Yorlene Herrera Amador was found dead, face up, with her child, Scarleth Francini Herrera Amador, in her arms. Neighbours say they heard or saw nothing, finding the gruesome discovery only when they did not see the woman nor the child as usual.

Red Cross workers were called to the scene immediately but could not do anything for either of the two victims, since the they had been dead for hours. Witnesses say they head four gunshot blasts around midnight, but it wasn't until 5pm the next afternoon that the bodies were discovered, finding it strange that the woman and child had not been seen all day.

Douglas García García, who is originally from Puntarenas, was arrested within the hour of the discovery in the area near the Clinica Católica.

Police say that the Garcia had lived with Amador for some four years. Some months back the couple began to have problems forcing a separation. Garcia, apparently, was an alcoholic and the woman could not take any more of him. A friend of Amador told police that Garcia had told her a couple of weeks back that he was going to kill the woman. Amador has sought a restraining order for protection.

"I used to take care of the little girl allowing her mother to go to church and alos complete her studies" said Aura Larios, Amador's friend. "He was a very jealous man. We would stop at the corner to spy on her. He worked at night but would spend all day watching the woman. He said he hated her and would through her out the house because it belonged to his mother", Larios said.

The atrocious act moved the whole community.
