Mexicans Criticize Repression
The Mexican La Jornada daily
accused President Vicente Fox on
Friday of finishing his term of
office in December being "a liar
as he always was, and covered
with blood."
The daily held that opinion in
an editorial, while the numbers
and testimonies of the
repressive barbarity in the
cities of Texaco and San
Salvador Atenco in Mexico state,
on May 3-4, keep increasing.
The clashes between citizens and
the police unleashed on May 3,
after traveling flower
salespeople in a Texcoco local
were evicted.
La Jornada also criticizes a
government consensus to deny
beatings, a 14-year-old child´s
death, sexual abuse, and
poor-home sacking.
It published that if some
demonstrators attacked several
police agents cruelly and
unjustifiably, the agents were
those responsible for massively
breaking the law.
It maintained that although
President Fox lied when
referring to those events and
the authorities´ behavior, he is
already facing the first
international protests for the
repression escalation in the
country.
