Casa Presidencial On The Move
President Oscar Arias took no time to make it known that he favours moving Casa Presidencial from its current location Zapote to the Centro Nacional de Cultura (Cenac) in downtown San José.

Arias said that the downtown area is more favourable for the centre of government, being close to many other government installations, like the Foreign Ministry (Casa Amarilla) at the corner.

The Cenac downtown location is also closer to the Arias home in Rohrmoser.

No date has been set to the move and the president has chosen to use his home as temporary headquarters for the presidential office, making public his feelings that he doesn't much care for the current Casa Presidencial, preferring to work from home and hold meetings there.

The move may become a reality as Arias is expected to hold serious meetings with Culture Minister, María Elena Carballo, and will be seeking opinions from other cabinet ministers on the move.

Monday's inauguration celebrations moved from the Estadio Nacional to the Cenac facility rather than Casa Presidencial in Zapote, where foreign dignitaries were treated to lunch.
