Pilot Loses Control And Runs Airplane into Ditch
At 1:20pm Friday afternoon, Roberto Morrison, a British national, accompanied by Thomas Gilmore, a US citizen, got the scare of their lives in Golfito, when the small airplane Morrison was piloting left the runway on takeoff and backflipped into a ditch.

The accident appears to have been a pilot error.

Morrison told the local Diario Extra correspondent that as he was taking off he got distracted causing him to lose control of the small craft and left the runway.

"I tried to recover control of the plane but it raced into the ditch" explained Morrison.

Neither Morrison nor Gilmore reported any injuries, though it did cause a commotion at the small airfield as firefighters and ambulances raced to the scene of the accident. Fuel from the airplane had spilled and there was a danger of fire.
