Bank Customers Panicked When Car
Crashes Through Window
The clients and employees of the
Banco Popular in San Isidro del
General got the scare of their
lives when a car plowed into the
bank's front window.
The Policía de Tránsito say it
was simply a traffic accident
where 35 year old Sandra Ulate
Azofeifa, accidentally hit the
accelerator while she waiting
for her husband inside the bank.
The husband, Jorge Abarca,, is
the bank manager.
"The vehicle is automatic and
for some reason it was in gear.
The driver hit the accelerator
accidentally and the vehicle
went through the bank's window"
said Tránsito official César
Madrigal.
Many inside the bank at first
thought that a bomb had gone off
when hearing the explosive sound
of glass breaking. For some
moments there was panic in the
bank but quickly calmed when
they saw that a Nissan
Pathfinder had crashed through
the glass.
The driver suffered a nerve
attack and one young man
received cuts from the flying
glass. No other injuries were
reported and the driver was
given a ticket for damage to
property.
