Tension in Escazú As Man Continues Stand Off With Police
A Russian national, armed to the teeth is holding his wife and three children hostage in their home in Bello Horizonte, in Escazú. Police attempting to negotiate with the man.

The man, identified by his last name, Ludovich, suffers from a terminal illness and was upset because his wife did not get him his medication.

Police feared the worst when the 47 year old man fired a number of gunshots into the air. Police say the man had a shotgun, a .45 calibre pistol and an undetermined amount of ammunition and was threatening to take his life and the life of his family members.

The family was allowed to leave the house and in the hands of police when one of the children was able to open the front door of the house and police moved into remove all the hostages.
The drama unfolded around 6:00pm last night.

At 7:30am this morning, police were still attempting to make contact with the man in the hope to get him to leave the house before anyone gets hurt.

The man takes morphine to control his pain and is upset because the Caja Costarricense de Seguro Social (CCSS) does not have the medication available.
