Closing the Digital Gap
The Ministry of Science and Technology announced a nation-wide campaign to close the digital gap affecting mainly adults and the elderly.

At least 352 community centers will be activated in the next four years to help those Costa Ricans adapt to computer technology, according to official sources.

Science and Technology Minister Eugenia Flores said that the program surfaced as a reaction to the poor condition in which the country finds itself regarding access to the Internet.

She quoted as examples that in the Montes de Oca canton 43 percent of the inhabitants have a computer, but that not all of them have access to the Internet. Meanwhile, she pointed out, in Upala and Los Chiles, in the northern zone, there is only one computer in each of these towns.
