Honduras Rains Leave Damage, Deaths
The over 48-hour uninterrupted rains in western Honduras have resulted in landslides, increased river water levels, lack of communication and at least three people dead, local press headlined Monday.

According to the National Meteorological System, rains are expected to stop today, however, the National Commissioner of the Permanent Emergency Committee (COPECO), Juan Carlos Elvir, informed the green alert will be maintained.

Official reports indicated several roads and bridges have been severely damaged, while local authorities have expressed concern over losses in corn and bean crops.

Meanwhile, the COPECO commissioner in the northern region, Carlos Gonzalez, informed authorities had declared a red alert and will evacuate some residents in critical areas, because the Ulua River is very high.
