Morales: Cuban Doctors Will Stay
in Bolivia!
Cuban doctors working in Bolivia
will remain on Bolivian soil as
long as Evo Morales is the
president, President Evo Morales
said, reasserting his gratitude
for Cuban cooperation in
Bolivia.
He made the statement in Villa
Tunari, Chapare, when
inaugurating modern equipment
installed at the hospital there
by Cuban specialists, and
exhorted the Cuban and Bolivian
personnel to make this hospital
the best in Bolivia.
Morales said he has a special
affection for the population,
and their role in the social
struggles of the last two
decades.
Cuban Ambassador to Bolivia
Rafael Dausa reassured that
Cuban physicians will continue
to work in Bolivia as long as
necessary.
The ambassador said the members
of the Cuban medical brigade
have taken care of more than
570,000 patients and saved more
than 1,000 lives in three
months.
A poll by weekly La Epoca, taken
in populated areas, revealed
that most Bolivian citizens
support the presence and the
work of Cuban doctors.
An article by La Epoca discussed
the work of the more than 700
Cuban doctors in 188 Bolivian
municipalities in nine
departments.
