New Protests in Nicaragua
Workers, students and civil
society members will stage a
protest next week in this
capital, demanding a government
respond to social problems
affecting Nicaraguans.
The aim is to press the
country's authorities to solve
the urban transportation problem
here, protest against rising
electricity tariffs and demand
the government to work on the
lack of fresh water in most
neighborhoods of this capital.
The execution of these protests
was confirmed Friday to Prensa
Latina by the National Workers
Front (FNT) general secretary
Gustavo Porras, who said that
there will be mass
demonstrations next Tuesday.
According to Porras, there will
also be sit-ins in several
places of Managua on Wednesday,
and leadership from these social
organizations will meet Friday
to decide further actions.
