Nicaragua, Ramonet Condemns
Globalization
Neoliberal globalization is not
the solution to the disaster
prevailing in the world,
asserted French writer and
editor of Le Monde Diplomatique
magazine, Ignacio Ramonet, in
his lecture at a Nicaraguan
university Wednesday.
The expert highlighted that
“globalization is substitution
of the market for social,
national and solidarity
cohesion, which is presented as
the answer to all society’s
problems.”
According to Ramonet, the media
constitutes the ideological arm
of that process, where capital
rules and governments manage.
Communication is the strategic
raw material at present and
those who control information
have the power.
The French journalist referred
to the creation of a tax for
flight of capital, putting a
moratorium on privatization of
potable water, and excluding
education, culture and health
from the Free Trade Agreements,
as well as a 0.7 percent tax on
mega fortunes as some of the
seven measures he considered
important to stop the neoliberal
globalization.
