Lula Extols Brazilian Government
Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva asserted his pride in his post and the performance of his administration.

Lula said he was willing to compare his administration with that of former neoliberal President Fernando Henrique Cardoso.

Only those who are ashamed are afraid of discussing their past, and I am proud of my past and my government, said the Brazilian president, adding he was prepared to face he opposition in any debate, and compare his government with any from another period.

Over opposition uneasiness about his presidency, he said the nation lacks a culture of respect for people who do not belong to the old clique.

The opposition is infuriated because a humble person from the state of Pernambuco without a university degree has been able to halt inflation and increase jobs and exports.
