Prosecutor Ex-Girlfriend  Suspended In Suspicion of Ties to Burgos
The prosecution's case against Luis Fernando Burgos is growing as investigators look to discover who else was involved the murder of Maureen Hidalgo, the 28 year old public defender, whose body was found at the side of the road near Rio Grande following several days days of disappearance.

Burgos, the Maureen's husband, is the prime suspect and is currently in preventive detention (jail) while investigators continue sifting through the clues.

Yesterday, a fiscal (public prosecutor) of the Unidad de Apoyo del Ministerio Público - identified only by her last name Rojas - was suspended for three months. Rojas was Burgos' ex-girlfriend, according to investigators, who are trying to figure out if she had any involvement in the murder.

Investigators believe that Burgos had to have had help and could not have disposed of the body on his own.

The investigation led authorities back to the Burgos apartment, where for hours they spent sifting through th personal belongings in the apartment. An statement by one official said that the re-inspection of the apartment was very beneficial to the case, as they know now more specifically for what they are looking for to tie Burgos to the crime.

Fabián Barrantes, press chief at the Poder Judicial, confirmed the suspension. "The suspension was at the request of the Fiscal General, Francisco Dall’Anesse", said Barrantes without disclosing the reason, nor the terms of the suspension.

Sources close to the suspended Rojas said that there was no direct participation in the murder of Maureen, what caught the attention of investigators is a telephone conversation Rojas had with Burgos following his wife's disappearance.

The contact, according to the sources, was during the time Maureen was still missing and prior to Burgos filing a missing persons report. Investigators discovered the contact during an interview with Rojas while they talk to anyone close to Burgos and the case.
