Zuleyka Rivera Mendoza, Miss
Puerto Rico, was crowned Miss
Universe 2006, at the ceremony
last nigth held at the Shrine
Auditorium in Los Angeles.
Miss Universe 2005, Natalie
Glebova, who is of Russian
origin and representing Canada,
crowed Zuleyka as the new queen
in a ceremony that was filled
with emotion and tears.
At 18 years of age, the young
beauty was born in Salinas.
This is the fifth time Puert
Rico has won the crown in the 55
years of the pagaent. The United
States has won the most with
seven crowns in the history of
the Miss Universe pageant.
Costa Rica's Miss Costa Rica
2006, Fabriella Quessada, was
eliminated in the first round of
competition.
