IDB Calls For Tenders On Water Management
The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has called on consultancies to submit tenders on studying Costa Rica's water resources and improving on the first stage of the country's integrated management plan (EGIRH), IDB reported in a release.

The process is open to consulting firms based in IDB member countries that specialize in such projects. Interested firms must submit their letter of intent by July 27. The consultancy contract has a reference price of US$120,000.

IDB will then pre-qualify firms, which must submit technical and economic bids by September 14.

The winning company will be in charge of reviewing the methodology already developed in the first stage of the EGIRH and, if necessary, developing a specific one for the elaboration of monthly water level reports per hydrographic basin.

The consultant must also develop databases, including the availability and usage of water resources per basin, and determine water supply and demand for 15 of Costa Rica's 34 main basins.

The development of the study will be under the direction and supervision of the water department of the country's environment and energy ministry.

Criteria used to pre-qualify companies will include experience in the field of planning and evaluating water resources; the experience of personnel; experience in similar projects, especially in Costa Rica or in other Latin American countries; and experience in the elaboration of studies and projects funded by international organizations, including IDB.
