Chavez Says US Going Down
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez
predicted the end of US
imperialism this century at the
MERCOSUR summit in Argentina.
Standing before throngs of
people with Fidel Castro, he
said that empire´s strength
should not be over or
underestimated, but he assured
it´s on the way out.
He said it will be increasingly
difficult for the US "to
dominate this planet, to
dominate our peoples."
The Venezuelan President said
this is the century for Latin
America, and better conditions
have never before been
presented.
He slammed the US for its
endangerment of the world,
citing its involvement in
Lebanon, Iraq, Iran, Korea and
Cuba, ridiculing that empire for
its current attempts to topple
the latter with a so-called
transition plan.
Chavez said that if anyone needs
a scheme to change it´s the US,
who should begin teaching its
people how to live in a
non-imperialist manner.
He praised the 30th MERCOSUR
summit, said it was important
for grassroots movements to be
united, and was hopeful for
continental integration from the
Caribbean to Argentina.
