Brazil Humanist Party Meet
Attended by former candidate to
Chile's Presidency Tomas Hirsch,
this capital is holding a forum
of the Humanist Party (HP) of
Brazil, its social movement and
actions fronts.
The activity is part of a
process of mini-encounters by
South American organizations of
this kind with a view of a
regional meeting to be run in
Quito in October.
The HP of Brazil existed with
own register until the 1985
elections and later its members
stopped being a party till last
year in which its social
movements refund again this
organization.
Saturday's meeting, among other
things, tackled issues like
Latin American integration,
women, policy, health, as well
as neoliberalism, neofascism and
economic concentration.
An important element was the
presence of Hirsch, who leading
the coalition "Juntos Podemos
Mas," composed by humanist and
communist parties and over 60
social organizations, was a
candidate to the Chilean
presidency in 2005.
