Growth Underestimated
The Central Bank underestimated the production of Costa Rica in 2005.

According to analysts, a review of the national accounts last year showed that the rate of growth of the economy was 5.9 percent, not 4.1 percent as the Bank had earlier reported.

Central Bank chairman Francisco Gutierrez explained that the difference does not result of a mistake, because the estimates are made on the conditions existing when they are drafted and not in the actual performance of economy.
