Hired Killers Miss Again
The area surrounding the
Comandancia de Heredia (Heredia
police command post) was the
scene of a police operation
following the discovery by
police official Willy Zúñiga
Arias of a package under his
vehicle that was believed to be
a bomb.
Emergency response units from
the Bomberos, the Fuerza Pública
and Cruz Roja immediately were
on the scene along with
explosive experts of the
Organismo de Investigación
Judicial and the Dirección de
Inteligencia y Seguridad (DIS).
Zúñiga had an appointment with
psychologists of the Ministerio
de Seguridad Pública at the
Heredia police station when he
alerted his fellow offices of
the bomb.
Even though officials of the
Ministerio de Seguridad Pública
discarted the presence of a
bomb, officials did say that
they found a homemade explosive
device that could not cause
death but could cause severe
damage.
Zúñiga is a witness for the
prosecution in the murder case
of journalist Parmenio Medina.
Zúñiga has had various attempts
made against his life, including
being shot at the week earlier.
